Product overview

Pre-Painted Galvalume Steel Coil (PPGL) is a coil product manufactured by taking a hot-dip Galvalume steel coil as the substrate, subjecting it to surface pretreatment, applying one or more layers of organic coatings via a continuous roll-coating process, and subsequently curing the coatings through baking. The metallic coating on the substrate typically consists of approximately 55% aluminum, 43.4% zinc, and 1.6% silicon. This composition provides both the physical barrier protection of aluminum and the sacrificial anodic protection of zinc, resulting in corrosion resistance that is significantly superior to that of standard galvanized steel substrates.

Key Performance Advantages
  • Dual-layer corrosion protection with exceptional weather resistance. The aluminum-zinc alloy coating on the substrate provides a robust foundation against corrosion, while the topcoat adds an organic barrier, creating a "metallic coating + organic coating" dual-protection system. For a given coating weight, color-coated aluminum-zinc alloy sheets generally offer superior overall weather resistance compared to color-coated galvanized sheets, making them ideal for outdoor applications that demand a longer service life.

  • Excellent formability. These sheets are suitable for standard processing operations—such as shearing, bending, and roll forming—and are well-suited for continuous roll-forming processes used in the production of metal roofing or wall panels. The coating maintains strong adhesion during forming, with minimal risk of cracking or peeling.

  • Diverse decorative options. Coating colors can be customized based on the RAL color system or specific customer samples. Surface finishes—including high-gloss, matte, or embossed textures—are available to meet various aesthetic and textural requirements.

  • Flexible coating systems. Depending on the intended operating environment, a range of coating types can be selected—such as Polyester (PE), Silicone-Modified Polyester (SMP), High-Durability Polyester (HDP), or Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF)—to align with specific weather-resistance requirements and budget considerations.

Common Grades and Standards

  • Grade Systems: TDC51D+AZ (for cold forming), TDC52D+AZ, TS250GD+AZ, TS350GD+AZ (for structural applications), etc.
  • Applicable Standards: Q/BQB 445, EN 10346, ASTM A755, JIS G3322, etc.

Typical Applications
  • Roofing Panels. Through roll-forming, color-coated Al-Zn alloy-coated steel coils are transformed into profiled roofing panels. Available in a wide range of pre-selected colors, these panels require no additional on-site painting. They are ideal for the roofs of industrial plants, warehouses, and commercial buildings, offering superior weather resistance compared to standard color-coated galvanized steel panels.

  • Construction Site Fencing/Hoarding. These coils can be processed into temporary construction site fencing or partitions. The color-coated surface provides an immediate, finished appearance (commonly in blue, gray, or white), while the Al-Zn alloy substrate ensures excellent rust resistance in outdoor environments—making them perfect for projects that demand both an attractive appearance and long-term durability.

  • Decorative Purposes. Suitable for decorative wall panels, ceilings, partitions, and backing boards for signage. Colors can be customized to meet specific design requirements, with surface finishes available in either gloss or matte, combining the structural strength of metal with a high-quality decorative aesthetic.
